OSAN was organising two panels at the ESSWE 7 in Amsterdam in July. Both panels were a great success and well visited. On the first panel Matthew Clark, Julian Strube, Mriganka Mukhopadhyay, and Keith E. Cantú were presenting papers. The second panel included Marleen Thaler, Magdalena Kraler (whose paper substituted the cancellation of Lucian Wong) , Tancredi Marrone, and Karl Baier. Previous changes of the schedule of the second panel did not affect neither quality nor attendance.
Additionally, those members of OSAN present at the conference met for an OSAN network meeting. At this session the new OSAN blog was introduced and future projects were discussed. All members got invited to submit articles to the OSAN group blog. Among prospective projects is the participation of OSAN at the ECSAS (Vienna, July/August 2020), as well as the proceeding progression of the publication of the OSAN conference papers.
Another great delight was the notification that at the board meeting, which was held before the conference, OSAN was accepted as a thematic network within ESSWE.
Three members of OSAN participated in the panel discussion “Should we drop the “Western” from Western Esotericism”, namely Karl Baier, Julian Strube, and Henrik Bodgan.
Plans for a second OSAN conference were welcomed by all members attending the group meeting. We will provide more information on that matter soon!
